I use an amazing sweater knit jersey cotton fabric double layered, so it will act not only as an amazingly cute hat, but also as ear warmers/protectors, but the fabric is not too heavy so its perfect for all the states!

The cool weather is upon us time for all those fun winter accessories we only get to use mildly.

But basically what we have here, is what once was a full slip, sliced and diced turned into a romper, I salvaged the lace from a different slip skirt I had, and the teal fabric used in the ruffles and for the trimming was the left overs from a previous full slip turned romper. So basically a Frankenstein of rompers.

Just put this little diddy together this weekend. I have been really wanting to make day rompers, so before I jumped into that, I figured why not make a high waisted shorts jumper. While I was making them I thought how fun it would be to make the straps to the jumper detachable so you change the garment according to your mood or the weather! So here is a little Sneak Peek at the shorts, and the straps are coming later today!

New dress design and New Print

SO Lately I have been wanting to really spruce things up in my little shop, I want new happenings and to make it a little easier on myself, I have decided I want to make a few specific designs for the tshirt dresses and later on with the slips I will be building. So this way I can just take a few photos of the dress that fits me best and then on make them to order. This way I wont have to create something and struggle to get a good few photos in of every single garment I make. But here is the design of the Scout dress, I have it photographed here in 2 different colors and with 2 different prints. Including my newest print of a red fox, which will be able to be a silver fox or purple fox whatever your heart desires fox.

Sooo super fun project! I really need to start taking before pictures, I know I always say that but I mean it this time and next time I won't be saying that sentence at all! So I was at the thrift shop the other day and saw these amazing coral pinkish colored curtains with white box pleated bottoms accented with olive green ribbons and thought "oh my..mine" and took them home and threw them on the sewing table knowing something great needed to happen right then. Instead I ate dinner with my sweet lovey man and went to sleep but the next morning I awoke to a beautiful vision and the vision was.... this romper!!! SO I took the take off of work :) it was kinda sorta raining so can't really blame me and I got to work on this beaut!

I made it a sweetheart top and added bust darts in the top and coming up from the waist line. I accented the top of the bust line with some of the pleated bottom curtain I had cut and used for the bottom of the bloomers.Also using the green ribbon used on the pleated bottom now at the top of bustline. To give it the real 50s feel I used the top edging of the curtain as the halter for the bodice .I made the high waisted bloomers from both bottoms of the set of curtains and added a zipper going up the left side making it an extremely accessible romper! All in all a super fun project took me a good little bit of time but I do think I can do it again and improve on things Heres the finished project!!

I really need to remember to take before and after photos...but this time use your imagination... This was a huge nightgown/moomoo, it caught my eye because of the amazing lace neckline I thought, well that deserves a new life. So I took it home cut and sliced it up and used remaining skirt and magically turned them into ruffles and POOF this is what came out.

So it all started with this sweet gal who was interested in a particular skirt, but then it sold before she could get her hands on it, so she ask me to try to reproduce the skirt and I did to my best, but the skirt was too long for this short little gal, so she had to bright idea of then asking me if I could turn it into a jumper for her. After a few days of wrestling with the idea and just the right way to do it. I finished it! here are some photos of the finished project!

Hey there everyone,
Exciting news! I went down to visit my Mama and while down there I was able to collect all kinds of my crafting gear! I brought home with me to NH a car full's worth of my good sewing machine, fabric, slips, all my silk screens, paints, felts, buttons, vintage treasures.. So you could imagine all the goodies soon too come.

But while I was down there I was able to get a couple of my bestest pals to play dress up and photo shoot with me. So we made a big pitcher of sangria and got too it. We had to do the shoot inside due to time arrangements but it worked out really well regardless. We got about 10-15 new slips printed and photographed and I am working on posting now, 2 vintage dress, feather head gear, bloomers... so get to the shop and take a peek!!

So here is the beginning of a whole new era! Linoleum block printed bird postcards! I have become more than fascinated with the birds here in NH. So I have been drawing them and cutting them out of blocks and printing them like crazy!

I got this awesome book of card stock with paper of all kinds of colors some glittered and some patterned. I print the birds onto these papers and then glue a poster board backing for full post card hardness. On the back of the Postcards I have supplied printed Name and address lines and stamp box.

They really are super great little senders to tell someone you're thinking of them.

And it feels great!! Was able to photograph 3 clips and a dress I had been working on for quite some time and post them onto etsy. Its been close to 3 months since I have posted anything on the site, but I sure am going to try my hardest to keep on myself to continue posting. I have all kinds of shirts (thanks to trace!) to print and post in the next few days. And lots and lots of slips just in time for the spring! Lord knows I am ready to not wear layers upon layers of clothes and pull out all my cutesy slips and wear only them for the rest of the year.

coming out of hibernation

SO here I am back at the apple farm not as a seasonal migrant worker but as a full time year round apple tree caretaker. We are finishing up our season of pruning the dormant trees. I have moved into the bunkhouse and have made it my home.

I set up a sewing table in one corner and a printing table in the other corner. I am offically all ready to start helping whiskeydog come out of her hibernation.

Thanks to my ever inspiring ever motivating pal tracy who last weekend brought me all kinds of t shirts to print, I have a good supply of read to be printed apparel. Not to mention all the amazing slips and bloomers I have been finding at the thrift shop down the street.

I started messing around with linoleum block printing instead of silkscreening. It takes so less supplies and its what I had, and well i LOVE it!! I do miss my silk screens but im going to ask my mom to send them up to me. I have found a whole new love and appreciation for birds so my main focus on the linoleum is cutting out birds, all the birds i see everyday in the orchards and out my window.

So to go along with the linoleum block printing I am not only going to print them on clothing, but I intend on making postcards and stationary as well.

Along with those bright ideas I plan on making a good stock of spats,maxi pads, feather accessories and custom rubber stamps!!!

so everyone cross your fingers and give me some words of encouragement every now and again and remind me how much i love to do this and why the hell am i just sitting around!!

Just got alot of fun packages in the mail of new supplies for my new crafts I am about to pick up. I got all sorts of sizes of linoleum blocks to cut and start printing with those instead of silkscreening. My first one is coming out pretty darn well so far, its of a south american maned wolf.. You will see how wonderful he is when he is finished.

Also I cut out a pattern that I will start sewing tomorrow for my flannel washable maxi pads, got all my fun printed fabrics in the mail and will start putting them together tomorrow.

I have 2 more clips to photograph and a dress as well... Hopefully by the end of this week I will have posted all kinds of new goodies on the site and whiskeydog can take off again!!

Howdy there everyone! So I haven't written in sometime, I got back from the apple harvest beginning of November and settled for the time being in Asheville NC, Jareds got a buncha pals here and we have settled in purty well so far. I have started my crafts again, I dont have any of my silkscreening supplies so I am making due with alot of feather pallets and wood burning. I ordered some linoleum blocks and I will start doing my prints from these blocks! I am excited to try this out, the prints will be a whole different story!

We are heading back to New Hampshire in January to do winter apple tree pruning.. Basically walking around in the freezing cold with sticks with chainsaws atop of them.... I plan on doing alot of crafting while I am there also, seeming how jared and I will be the only ones there this time around in that big ole scarey house.

Anyway this week I plan on posting a few new feather pallets and head gear, a dress, stockings, and maybe some wood burnings.. So I know I have been out of commission for awhile but Im back and here to stay!!!!

In new hapshire doing an apple harvest. We drove our little 86 tercel that jared put back together up and over the mountains into new england. We have been here for a couple weeks now and finally getting the hang of living in a tent in the woods and waking up at the break of dawn and picking apples till dusk 6 days a week. Everyday I strive to do better and pick better apples, I may not be the fastest picker but I am definitely the reddest picker. I will be posting photos of the bunk house and the orchards and of us with our buckets 50 lbs heavy with apples and shit eatting grins on our faces.

WhiskeyDog is on hold until the end of harvest(the end of October). I got the bunkhouse a sewing machine at the flea market and brought my hot glue gun, wood burning tool, felt, and feathers so hopefully a few projects will come out of my time here but pretty much other than work all i can do is sleep..

I am going to add a listing on my Etsy to buy a pen pal.. the pen pal would be me.. and the deal would be that ill send you letters in the mail of little trinkets i have found along the way or drawings on napkins i will be doing and collecting flowers ill be pressing arrowheads ill be finding feathers ill be snatching.. etc.. you get the point and You get to decide how many of these little treasure filled envelopes you get.. I will probably do something like 5 bucks gets yah 1 letter 10 will get ya 4 you know something along those lines... I dont know if anyone would be into it.. but i think it would be a ton of fun for me and if it were me recieving the letters.. id be totally stoked about it.. So I will post it and we will see...

Here is the finalproject for Feels like Home Records.. 15 shirts, they ended up looking pretty darn good. I had alot of trouble with the cut out... the first one I tried to adhere it messed up on the lettering and the back of one log. I then had to cut out the whole image all over again and re adhere it.. I was real close to the due time before a show the record label had that night, but I did it and they look great..

Go MLE Go! I am really trying to get down on myself and get crackin with a particular routine for everyday until I leave town.. I have so many ideas to create and so many screens to build and print before I got and leave them all behind... So everyday I need to make or start/finish making 3 things.. So today I have got 3 dresses going and finishing up a new feather headband which I feel is almost prettier than the rest!!! It really was an excellent time I made a pitcher of delicious sangria brandy and a hint of cinnamon.. soooo tastey. I am finishing up my 2 custom order projects that have taken a little more time than expected.. but thats ok they look really stinken great! The screen of Andy came out perfectly, and the logo for cares4pets adoption is looking really swell. So I will have those all finished and sent out by monday.

Then!! I will be getting together a whole swarm of new things, I havnt been posting new items so you all think Ive been slacking but really I have been collecting, dying, and rebuilding.. I am setting up a day filled with cocktails, slips, bloomers,dresses hats, accessories, feathers and buddies and my camera of course and take all new photos even retake some photos of some garments already posted, Hopefully I will keep up with this tradition of once a month throwing this hoohah and getting all my adorable pals to come over and get a little sauced and act like models for me... theyre so sweet. But I am so excited that, WhiskeyDog is going to look better than ever.

So I have slacked off the past couple of days, we went to rainbow river springs and went tubing and it was awesome the water was gorgeously crystal clear and cold and it was wonderful... to top if off i saw 6 otters! Boy were they too cute for words.. I definitely was having little cute attacks every time I saw one. Next time totally bringing the water camera for excellent photos.

I got a custom order request the other day from a little lady,Amanda who is too sweet, and I cant wait to get to know her a bit more. She purchased 4 shirts and requested I make a screen of her pup Andy with his Frisbee , and print 10 t-shirts. I sent out her package the other day and added some little extra thank yous in there including a screen print of my doggie Skizm. I am so excited about this project its right up my alley, just the thing I love to do. She sent me the photos today and I am about to get started on drawing him now. I'll give you all the play by play as it goes on.

In other projects, I have so many ideas and no time to work on all of them, But more headbands and bloomers are on the top of that list. Also I have been looking for a cheap but good adjustable mannequin so I can make some of these dresses real and not just sitting in my imagination so if anyone has the scoop on something like that let a lady know!

Things were a little crazy here the past few days, a couple of our pals from asheville NC came into town and we went to the beach everyday, and Sadye left her doggie Sam with us while they go to south america. Then I worked a couple of days and it was Jareds birthday and we went to Myakka state park in sarasota florida, and we saw so many alligators and other animals it was great! I will be posting the pictures on my mixxmade site and flickr site. So coming soon really awesome photos by MLE

But today Jared went to work, and it is time for me to get to work 3 packages to send out (hopefully to the right address..sometimes i am such a nit wit) and a couple of veggie tote bags to make before sunday for the place I work at on the weekends..

Also the other afternoon my pal katie and i were biking home from work when we noticed the colleges let out and holy crap did I score some wonderful goodies from their dumpster cans. These amazing huge feather pallets with hundreds of different colroed and sized feathers, I almost peed my pants when we found them. So I need to get to it and sit down and bust out a few headbands. I already owe 3 to some ladies and I want to make some to post for some selling too.. But anywho this blog is about me getting my butt on track so freakin do it MLE!!!!

So I needed a good pair of bloomers, summer is here and yah cant doubt that a skirt is the coolest thing you can wear, and you know when you ride a bike some people like to hoot n holler at you showing some skin, when you cant help it you are just trying to get to work god damnit!, or the grocery store, or anywhere when you dont gotta vehicle. So I got plain tired of, plus honestly i just love the look of bloomers hangin outta your skirt, too cute for me. So i look all over and cant ever find bloomers, when one day i realize "Hey i can make these my damn self!" and so i went home, went through my quite impressive collection of slips and dyed it and cut it down the middle and sewed it up and made it some bloomers, it has changed my life so i figured i should share this with the world... by making them for them... What a cute little fanny pack.. eh? I found the bag at the thrift store and the sail boats was orginally a handle so i sewed it down the side of the pack. then attached some vintage red fabric to hold the clippy arms on and gave it a hammerhead shark..

this nice fellah from my town requested a cute fanny pack for his girlfriend. He said she lives florida and likes florida and sea creatures, so i figured the blue and the sailboats plus the shark would be just perfect. I sure hope he likes it

I worked today and this restaurant the best place you could imagine working, everyone is great there. Its complimentary mimosas and bloody marys.. for the customers and me! but still all day I wished I was at home working on projects.. then I say hey ill do it when i get home, but then i get home and dont feel any motivation or inspiration.. what a bummer......

good thing we just put the pool back up. katie and i jumped right in that sucker and swam the hot florida weather of only april away.

Time to kick myself in the butt and finish a tank top project I got goin on...

Our cat gordon as been missing now for a week and a half, and I have been keeping myself and my mind so busy to not let it really set in that hes most likely gone for good. But now I cant keep myself from thinking about him. So there it is I am admitting my own defeat and caving in to it, but first step is admitting it right??

I know everyone out there is thinkin hes just a cat, but he sure wasnt just a cat. Skizm raised him and zelda since they were tiny kittens, lying infront of the closet picking them up ever so gently when he got out and would return them to the closet, he loves them. They both picked up alot of dog characteristics. Gordon.. he loves water ever since he was a baby he would jump into the shower with me and sit in the back and get completely soaked, he climbs into the sink as soon as i finish the dishes and sits under the stream of water trying to catch it going down the drain. Here some photos just so you can see how lovely of a man he is.

Here is the feather head sleeve I made for a gal named cherry who lives in CT I believe is where I sent it. Its gorgeous, i got to use to bluejay feathers my pal Doug collected for me. I tried fancing it up for her, I didnt leave any seams raw, I hemmed everything. I sure hope she loves it

Today I got wonderfully brand new bright colored 100% organic cotton t shirts
I am thinking I am going to put a wolf on all of them, including a tag telling all about the situation on the mexican grey wolf, and what we can do to help them. I know its cheesy with you know "save the animals" and all but I DO want to save the animals.... and so should you!!

Anyway keep an eye on the shop for these lovely tees!

And time to start making some new things, out of yummy colors of felt!! I was thinking of little animals which consist of stuffing and sand to stand up. Also found a couple shirts with their top half cut off, which of course i snatched right away and printed on them, now I am constructing an amazing comfortable top and it gave me a wonderful idea including summerdresses and suspenders!

I have so many ideas, i need a book just to jot everything down as it pops up. Point is I have booked a showcase spot on the 26th and I really want to get a bunch of new stuff up before then. I just printed and dyed so many slips I need to do a photoshoot, hopefully pop out a couple of headbands before then too.. oh geez i need a nother me!

SO today I finally completely my very first custom order. 5 grey cardigans with matching wolf howling prints on the right side. I think they came out super great, they look so sharp. I am going to request a photo from the kids who are buying them of them all together with them on. I sure hope they fit them well, and they like them, and the print lasts a lifetime. I want to make a couple of little presents to throw into the package to show my appreciation for this opportunity they gave me. I had a real good time thinking it up for them and making it for them, I think it has become my most favorite print so far. SO just letting ya'll know I am totally up for doing things like this, if you got an idea you want in ink let me know and we'll see if I can whip it up for yah.

So I got home on Saturday night. I had a real good time up there and I miss them all very much so already. While I was up there a gal bought a shirt from me, and the day I got home another gal bought a headband offa me. Also I need to finish printing those cardigans and get those photos up today. Also a birthday package I just remembered! SO all in all I have a whole lotta stuff to do and get sent out by tomorrow I hope to have them sent out. I am really trying to get things out surprisingly fast and I want to figure out a little free gift to throw into the package to show my appreciation for them taking interest in the stuff I make. No one knows how amazing it makes me feel to be doing all of this and people appreciating it enough to spend some money on it

After tomorrow, after I send out all these packages I am going to make a new screen!! wooo yay isn't that exciting?! You all will just love it! I am going to leave it a surprise until it is finished!

I will be getting int st.petersburg later on tonight. It will be nice to see my dog, i had a dream he fought with a 3 legged dog last night.. and i had to hit them both with a palm-fron. It was pretty horrible.

But anyway when I get home I will be printing up all kinds of new shirts, and totes, I am even going to try to make a couple of fanny packs and print on those, so be on the lookout!

In other news, a wonderful little gal from the desert out west bought an owl shirt from me...unfortunately the shirt she bought had just been washed and the blue rings around the arms and neck bled onto the white, so I am going to fix it up and send her a couple other little gifts to make it up to her. So thats all the news for now! thanks for reading!

It feels so wonderful up here, every time I get out here I feel like...hey I think I just might belong here. Not sure if it is north carolina or the fact that my family is here, maybe the mixture of the two. But i'll tell you what.. I sure miss Jared and skizm, I wish they were here then everything would be just perfect. But ill be home in a few days and ill squeeze them both so hard and smooch 'em until they push me away. But until then....

I just watched the movie twilight with emma. Its her favorite movie, quite a romantic movie, definitely makes me want to become a vampire and be in love for ever... Wait should that not of been the point of the movie.... anywho I liked it and I want to be a vampire now.

Vintage treasures is the new section I added this morning. I went to the flea market last weekend and stumbled across some amazing finds. A bright red pill box hat, a cloche hat from the 20's, wonderful bloomers....etc. anywho you all should definitely check it out right now, and keep checking up on it because I will be posting more and more items throughout the day! Including hand dyed vintage slips, T-dresses and more!

So Today I am also going to make hopefully 2 feather head bands and post them up on the shop. I was originally going to just make them to custom orders, but I feel like people would buy them if they could see what it looks like and then they say HEY I want that head band! So yesterday was an exciting day, because my good buddy Jack came over and took us around to multiple thrift shops. I never get to do that because I am always on my bicycle, so yesterday was a real treat. PLUS we stopped and got falaffels! yum. But back to the point, at these thrift stores I picked up so many new wonderful slips ( which I already threw in a couple color dye baths), and a pill box hat, and all kinds of other wonderful vintage goodies. So now that I have collected a good amount of vintage articles I will be adding a vintage section to the shop! I am stoked about it. I was also thinking of printing on vintage shirts I had found.

I was wondering if you all would comment on that idea, do you think it would be a good idea to screen print on a couple vintage tops and skirts and purses? Let me know, if yah don't I am going to go ahead and do it anyway.

So just the other day I sat in front of my sewing machine and made a good amount of pillow cases, all different sizes, I made it with this wonderful cotton canvas colored fabric. Then I went and got myself some fabric dye and started a dye bath last night. I did 3 pillow cases teal, and will do the others today with a wine or a dark green maybe even a peacock blue. But I will be putting prints on them this after noon and posting them on the site later this evening. Defintly exciting I love having pretty things on my bed, and they are just so soft, and they smell great! You guys will totally enjoy them as much as me!

Also! for the ladies.... I just got a bunch of full length slips and I will be printing on them as well this afternoon, so if you are a slip lady like me and plan on wearing nothing but slips this summer, you are in for a treat. Dont forget to go and check it out later!

Feathers out the wa-zoo!

I have been playing a lot with feathers recently and have come up with a couple of fantastic headbands. I had been collecting feathers from all over the place and had no idea what I was collecting them for, but I knew I wanted them and that I loved them. I wear a lot of feathers in my hair and silk screen feathers on all kinds of things, shirts, dresses, totes, pillows etc.. So it seemed only right I make the most beautiful bouquet of feathers and glue and sew it onto a head piece.

Originally I had thought of using a small fabric covered head band for the feather pallet but when I couldn't find any at the craft store I had to figure out an alternative. That is when I remembered years ago I used to cut the sleeves off my tee shirts and wear them on my head to hold my hair back. Then I looked down at my pile of cut off sleeves of tee shirts I used to turn into tee dresses, and it just clicked! What a perfect match these two will make, I thought. I then proceeded to make the most wonderful head bands/ small hats anyone could ever ask for. They look great with anything you wear. My friend and I were waitressing the other afternoon and people could not believe how something so elegant looked so great with just a ratty shirt and a pair of jeans.

I am really not trying to toot my own horn here but you gotta check these guys out... They're too wonderful to pass up..

Crafting and Creating by day... Werewolf by night

I have been giving myself a goal everyday, to make at least one new wonderful thing.. It could be anything, from a feather headband to a couple printed shirts to making pillow cases. Point is I have been crafting a whole lot, and its real stinken fun and great.

SO here is my newest idea for whiskeydog, I have been reading a lot on Mexican Grey wolves.. about how they are the most endangered mammal in North America, there is as few as 52 left in the wild, it really blows my mind hearing something like this. I love wolves.. I think they are such wonderful animals and they are so beautiful, and I really do have such fond feelings for them. Then while I am pondering up some way of making a couple Mexican Grey wolf silk screens and giving an amount of the proceeds to a foundation to help repopulate the wolves, a couple of fellas from arizona request a custom order of a wolf print on a few cardigans, so here I am today sitting my butt on the floor drawing a hundred different wolves until I draw the perfect wolf.
